Have you ever felt anxious or helpless because of your fear of failing? We all want to learn and push our limits in our mind but in reality it is easier said than done. Very few people will work through multiple unsuccessful attempts of learning a new skill or behaviour. With the amount of information available to the average joe on the internet, it's not surprising that most people think they have all the answers. But in reality that is far from the case.

Imagine all the info on weight loss as a pie. We could pick any part of the pie and choose a fitness protocol that may on may not work for you. If you're lucky, initially you find success but after a period of time you find yourself back in the same starting position. Following multiple pieces of pie and trying many different regimes, you decide to give it a break. A period of time passes and your general practitioner explains to you that your lifestyle need to change ASAP! Now to understand why only taking small individual pieces of the pie will lead to failure, ie googling one fad diet, 12 weeks fitness detox, or a health retreat you need to get a grasp of the overall picture.

In the same way following a recipe produced by Gordon Ramsey "should" produce amazing quality food, we want to produce a recipe for your health that is methodical, simple to follow, sustainable and most importantly, learnt. On paper, following a Gordon Ramsey recipe is not that hard, but often when we serve the dish, it neither tastes or looks anything like the meal that the great man had created. Gordon has perfected his skills over years and years of cooking so why should you expect to do the same!

Fitness and health can be viewed in the same way. A top quality coach should have a much broader knowledge and experience in cooking the perfect dish. The more experience the coach has the greater number of dishes he will be able to perfect (more clients with different problems to be solved). So for you to achieve your goals, hiring a personal coach to teach you the overall perspective of health, nutrition, the skills of weight training/cardio/mobility/recovery, would seem like the logical solution.

As much a we like to think we know it all, most of the time a slice of humble pie is the first dish you should eat when beginning any journey to self improvement. There is no shame in asking for help if you are hitting a road block. That is not to say you can't succeed by yourself, but by hiring a coach you will have a rapid learning curve that would not possible on your own. Hire someone who is passionate about what they do and has the knowledge and experience to help you learn how to become the person you desire to be. Good luck with your journey!
